TORCA (Tri-Cities Off Road Cycling Association) recently held a Trail Day on one of the Burke Mountain trails called Frank’s.
The first ever trail day on Burke Mountain was an enormous success! Over 60 volunteers donated their time on a sunny Sunday to help out. It is amazing how many people love Burke Mountain and are invested the mountain bike trails. TORCA and the volunteers accomplished an incredible amount of work, fixing drainage issues and rebuilding the trail for a distance of approximately 1km. They remedied the drainage issues, removed the organic, water holding soil and replaced with large rock and covered with a mineral soil, which will ensure a strong, sustainable trail surface that will shed water. They then worked to re-naturalize the area (example: replanting ferns).
