Summer Watering Restrictions
Did you know that a healthy lawn only needs about 2.5cm of water – or about 1 hour of sprinkling – each week?
Summer watering restrictions come into effect June 1 until September 30. All residential properties within the City of Coquitlam are required to follow these regulations.
Lawn sprinkling regulations are as follows:
EVEN numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday & Saturday – from 4am – 9am
ODD numbered addresses: Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday – from 4am – 9am
Residential exemptions include:
- Flower and vegetable gardens, decorative planters, shrubs and trees
- Lawns with a valid City Exemption Permit
- Pools, spas and fountains
- Washing of boats and motor vehicles (only if using a spring-loaded nozzle)
If you have a newly seeded/sodded lawn, you can apply for a 21-day temporary exemption permit from the City of Coquitlam. The cost for single-family properties is $25, and will permit you to water every day from 4 – 9am.
If you have any watering concerns, contact Engineering and Public Works Customer Service at 604.927.3500 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
