New Construction Environmental Initiatives
During construction, Wesbild takes care to ensure that we are respecting and protecting the sensitive habitat around our neighbourhoods. Most recently, we have been working on clearing and servicing our newest neighbourhood along Sheffield Avenue, east of Princeton Avenue.
Here are two new ways we are minimizing environmental impact with construction around our new Partington Creek neighbourhood.
WHEEL WASH
During off-site hauling, our dump trucks pass through a wheel wash to help minimize the spread of dirt and dust through our existing residential neighbourhoods when trucks drive through.
The level spreader is a temporary construction measure that takes stored water from sumps and ditches to a series of perforated pipe along the forest edge. During construction, this pipe discharges the water back to the forest floor, and utilizes the forest’s natural drainage system to remove any turbidity from the storm water.
