Coquitlam SAR Command Centre Receives $10,000 from Wesbild
Today, Raymond Nothstein, Vice President of Development and Planning for Wesbild Holdings Ltd., was pleased to commit $10,000 to the Coquitlam Search and Rescue (SAR) Team for a new Mobile Command Centre. He was joined by Sandy Burpee, the fundraising chair for Coquitlam SAR, and Action Mayor Terry O’Neill of the City of Coquitlam.
“Wesbild’s commitment to the community of Burke Mountain continues long after their home purchase,” said Mr. Nothstein. “When we learned from Coquitlam SAR that a great deal of the calls they receive are for people needing assistance both on and off Burke Mountain trails, we wanted to assist with the funding required for this important community safety initiative.”
“Coquitlam Search and Rescue is very pleased to have Wesbild as a partner in our project,” said Mr. Burpee. “Their generous donation will allow us to upgrade the computer and audio visual equipment in the new command centre essential to planning operations and briefing search teams. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with Wesbild.”
The current Mobile Command Centre is 20-years-old and due for retirement. The new Mobile Command Centre will have the capability to travel on more challenging roads, transport additional field equipment, and enhance search and rescue management with new technology and additional floor space for work stations and briefings. It will enable Coquitlam SAR to get searchers into the field more quickly and enhance the team’s overall effectiveness. The new Mobile Command Centre is scheduled to be in operation by March 31st, 2016.
Wesbild Holdings Ltd. has a proud relationship with Coquitlam residents that spans over three decades. Wesbild is pleased to contribute financial support to important community safety projects for the Burke Mountain community, including the newly created map of Burke Mountain trails, a second year of funding for the parent-organized Burke Mountain school bus services, and today’s commitment to Coquitlam SAR.
